Yaroslav Askarov Traded to San Jose, and What Went Down Within the Situation.

Rookie goaltender, 22, traded to San Jose following a series of events

The Nashville Predators have received David Edstrom, a 2025 first-round pick (Vegas’s selection) and goaltender Magnus Chrona today, in a trade involving Yaroslav Askarov. Following events over the course of the past few weeks, the former Nashville Goaldender will look to make his mark in a new city.


Askarov, 22, was drafted by Nashville 11th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Playing the past two seasons in Milwaukee, with three games in Nashville. Posting a .911 SV%, 2.55 GAA, in 92 regular season games with a 56-29-6 record, he represented Milwaukee in both the 2023 and 2024 AHL All Star Classic


He was expected to become Nashville's long-term starting goaltender over the course of the next few seasons. Until, GM Barry Trotz inked franchise goaltender Juuse Saros to an eight-year extension with the club.



Per Kevin Weeks, Yaroslav Askarov requested a trade out of Nashville. With Saros future lined up as the number one goaltndeer, he will get his chance to become a franchise goaltender in a young San Jose lineup.
