Utah HC Weekly Report: 7/7-7/13

Since it is indeed the offseason, Utah as a team has had a slow week coming off of the rookie camp held all of last week. We saw fan favorite Tij Iginla show off his skills at the newest by means, ice sheet in the NHL credit of Delta Center. Heading into this week, there was no news covering on ice activity by the Utah HC. However there are plenty of signings to cover.

Signings:

Monday we saw Barrett Hayton ink an extension with Utah. The 2 year deal is worth $5.3 million at an average annual value of $2.65 million. The 24 year old had 3G, 7A, for 10PTS in 33 games with the Coyotes. Notabliy, the centerman also had 26 penalty minutes. Hayton was originally selected 5th overall by Arizona in the 2018 NHL Entry Level Draft.

Tuesday it was Egor Sokolov who inked a one-year, two-way deal with Utah. The Russian native spent most of his time last season with the Belleville Senators, Ottawa's AHL farm team. The 6'3 winger posted 21G, 25A for 46 PTS in 71 GP. He also spent five games with Ottawa the year before where he had one goal and one assist in five regular season games.

Wednesday Utah had signed rookie Artyom Duda to an Entry Level Contract. The 20-year-old was drafted in the 2nd round 36th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2022 draft. He's an interesting player to watch for the fact that he spent last season with Toronto Metro University of the Usports leauge. This is Canada's equivalent to the NCAA US Colligate Hockey. There have only been a handful of Usports players who have cracked an NHL roster. Duda put up 2G, 5A, for 7PTS in 12GP with Toronto last season.

Thursday Sixth Overall Pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Tij Iginla was officially signed to an entry-level contract. Marking the first official draft pick to officially become a Utah HC Member. He should start with either Utah or Tucson next season. He had 84 points in 64 games with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL.

Other:

At the end of June we saw a shocking trade between the Utah HC, and Tampa Bay Lightening. Mika Sergechev was acquired by Utah in exchange for JJ Moser, Conor Geekie and two draft picks. Watch below as Sergechev tours the brand new hockey addition at the Delta Center in Utah:
