NASHVILLE--The Nashville Predators have officially inked 2023 First-Round selection Matthew Wood to a three-year, entry-level deal.
Wood, 20, concluded his third year of NCAA hockey on Thursday. He spent two seasons at the University of Connecticut before transferring to the University of Minnesota for his junior season.
Registering 109 NCAA games throughout his three-year colligate career, Wood tallied 44 goals and 57 assists for 101 points.
"He's a really offensively gifted player," Andrew Brunette said on Wood following last night's 3-1 loss to Vegas. "I've watched him enough to get a good feel for him. I think he's got an opportunity with his size, reach, and hands to be pretty effective."
How Nashville dictates the rest of Wood's season will depend on placing him with the Predators to end the season, or to the Milwaukee Admirals.
