NASHVILLE--The Nashville Predators completed a storied comeback Tuesday night against the New York Islanders.

As the game remained 4-4, New York scored consecutive goals in just over one minute (1:02), earning a 6-4 lead over the Predators with four minutes remaining in the third period.

Nashville earned a power play one minute later, where Steven Stamkos capitalized putting the Predators within one, just over a minute and a half (1:34), after the Islander's goal.

With 40 seconds left, Michael Bunting tipped Stamkos's shot passed Marcus Hogberg for the game-tying goal.

Fedor Svechkov fired a shot blocker side of Hogberg in overtime, earning his second-career game-winning-goal, and the Nashville Predators scored three unanswered goals in five minutes.

"It's a huge push for our team," said Svechkov postgame. "That we can do something like that, we start to believe in each other. This game is going to help us in the future."

What does Svechkov think of veterans like Stamkos and Filip Forsberg?

He expressed his gratitude for invites to team dinners.

"Everybody, good guys. Sometimes they invite me to the dinner. I'm going if I have the chance."

Assistant coach Todd Richards, who assumed head coaching duties while Andrew Brunette steps away from the team tending to a family matter, had a message for the fanbase following the victory.

"You get to game 70--I don't even know what game we're at right now, it's been that kind of year. The fans feel it, we feel it, coaches, players, all that stuff. You're looking for the bright spots. I feel like we've been playing hard, (just) been coming off on the wrong side of things."

"To come out on the right side of things after putting in the effort, I think a lot of it combined too with how you did it tonight. It definitely felt good."

Nashville heads to Utah for the final road trip of the season, before playing two final home games to complete the 2024-2025 season.
