Marcel Marcel to Return to Rockford for the 2024-2025 Season

It was announced earlier today that forward Marcel Marcel, a name so good you just have to say it twice, will be returning to the IceHogs for the 2024-2025 season. Marcel signed a one-year, AHL deal earlier today.

The Czechia Native, was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the fifth round of the 2023 NHL Draft. The 20-year-old brought in no goals but five assists in 26 games with Rockford over the course of last season. He also spent six games with the IceHogs farm ECHL team, the Indy Fuel where he put up one goal and two assists. We can expect the depth signing to return to his third or fourth line role, although there will be conpetition for him to even get a spot on the roster with how the team is projecting to shape up.

Marcel is indeed still adjusting to the North American lifestyle. Spending his Youth Hockey, and Junior hockey in his home country Czechia, before moving over to Canada to play with the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL for the 2022-2023 season. His first season in the United States was last season with Rockford.
