Hogs Sign Four To AHL Deals

Updated: Aug 3

Icehogs GM Mark Bernard certainly had a busy Wednesday as the team announced today they came to 1-year AHL agreements with Defensemen Lucas Brenton, Colin Felix and Adam McCormick. As well as forward Kevin Lombardi.

Brenton, a 21 year old 6 foot 4 defender, attended the Blackhawks rookie tournament last summer and spent the season with the Moose Jaw Warriors putting up 17 points in 68 games along with a +/- of +21. Brenton slots into a depth defender role with Rockford and could see the bulk of his time in Rockford with the occasional stint in Indy.

Colin Felix, a 25 year old defender, spent last season with the ECHL’s Adirondack Thunder on an AHL contract with the Utica Comets. He posted 18 points in 41 games with the Thunder along with 2 points in 23 AHL games in Utica. Another depth defender, expect to see him shuffle in and out of the Icehogs lineup with the occasional stint in Indy likely.

Adam McCormick, a 24 year year old defender, spent the last three years for the University of New Brunswick of Canadian USports. He posted a sparkling 41 points in 28 games for the UNB Reds. Another depth defender, he adds further depth for the Icehogs in case of injuries.

Kevin Lombardi, a 25 year old winger, spent the bulk of last season along with the previous four with Sacred Heart University, notching 25 points in 36 games as Sacred Heart’s assistant captain. He appeared in 7 games with the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears, with 1 assist. Another depth addition, he adds to the already deep crop of forwards for Rockford. Expect to see him spend the majority of his 2024-25 campaign on the right wing for the Indy Fuel.

With the 4 depth signings for Rockford today, the roster has begun to take shape. My assessment leaves possibly a top-6 vet winger as the only need remaining along with the possibility of 1-2 more depth additions. As always, stick to Biscuit Buds for all your Icehogs news throughout the 2024-2025 season.
