ROCKFORD--After an impressive eight-year professional career, including two seasons in Rockford, forward David Gust has reportedly decided to retire. On Tuesday, The Chicago Fury AAA Hockey Club announced via Facebook that Gust is set to join them as their Director of Youth Skills and Player Development.

Gust played his entire youth career with the Fury as an Orland Park native, before being drafted by the USHL's Fargo Force. He began his pro-career with the Bakersfield Condors before signing an AHL deal with his hometown Chicago Wolves and wining a Calder Cup during the 2021-2022 season.

Gust signed with the Blackhawks organization via a 1-year AHL deal prior to the 2022-2023 season. He was then flipped to an 2-year NHL deal on February 23, 2023 before making his NHL debut on the 25th and scoring his first NHL goal on his first shift.

In two years in Rockford, Gust tallied 101 points and was an AHL All-Star during the 2022-2023 campaign as well as an Assistant Captain for the 2023-2024 season. He was a fan-favorite and will be looked upon fondly for his two seasons in Rockford.
