BOSTON--Scoring a hat trick, and an additional assist in last year's Tom Kurvers Showcase, it became Connor Bedard's unofficial debut; perhaps a debut in a Blackhawks jersey. For Blackhawks fans, it tends to be the first time devoted fans, watch Hawks hockey since April.

Anders Sorenson, head coach of the Rockford IceHogs (AHL affiliate), and his team, will steer the ship through the showcase. Additionally fans will see IceHogs assistant coach Josh MacNevin make his coaching debut.

The roster includes notable 2024 1st-round, 2nd overall draft pick Artyom Levshunov (D), Frank Nazar (F), and Drew Commesso (G). While historically scouts are able to determine which players will make the eventual Blackhawks roster one day, the roster full of talented prospects gives scouts a hard task at hand.

The Blackhawks roster:

FORWARDS:

Colton Dach, Ryder Rolston, Jalen Luypen, Marcel Marcel, Alex Pharand, Samuel Savoie,

Martin Misiak, Nick Lardis, AJ Spellacy, Landon Slaggert, Paul Ludwinski, Frank Nazar, and Gavin Hayes.

DEFENSE:

Ethan Del Mastro, Nolan Allan, Wyatt Kennedy, Lucas Brenton, Artyom Levshunov, Tnias Mathurin, and Ty Henry.

GOALTENDERS:

Drew Commesso, Ben Gaudreau

Chicago will face off against St. Louis on Friday, September 13th at 7:00 PM. Saturday the 14th at 6:00 PM, they will play Minnesota. All games will be held at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

The Rockford IceHogs have had ten out of the 22 players play at least a single game with the team last season. The duo of Frank Nazar and Landon Slaggert appear as the only two on the roster to appear in a NHL game so far.

Players to watch:

Colton Dach, brother of former Blackhawk Kirby posted 27 points in 48 games with the IceHogs last season. Not to leave out the fact he received 39 penalty minutes as well. A scrappy player, yet also one who put the puck in the net. Much like his elder brother, he isn't afraid to sit a player down. The 21-year-old is expected to begin the season back in Rockford again.

Much like former captain Jonathan Toews, Landon Slaggert found the back of the net in his NHL debut, on his very first shot in the NHL. Slaggert grew up cheering for Chicago. The South Bend Indiana native was selected by the Blackhawks in the 3rd round, 79th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. He posed 20 goals and 11 assists for 31 points in 36 games with Notre Dame last season. In his 16 games with Chicago, 1 goal and 3 assists.

Frank Nazar, 20, posted as many points as games played with the University of Michigan last season. With 41 points in 41 games, his play earned him a contract with Chicago at the end of his college season. The rookie appeared in three games with the Blackhawks last season, where he scored his lone NHL goal.

Selected 2nd overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, Artyom Levshunov is expected to start the season in Rockford. Levshunov and Korchinski could seemingly end up as the future teams Keith-Seabrook duo. In 38 games played with Michigan State University, he posted 9 goals and 26 assists, totaling 35 points. An outspoken locker room player, his outgoing personality has the prospect high on the favorites list of members in the media.

Splitting the time with goaltender Jaxson Stauber last season, Drew Commesso wrapped up his first season in the AHL with Rockford last April. In 38 regular season games with Rockford, Commesso showed flashes of greatness, as well as room for improvement. He went 18-16-4 with a .906 SV% and 2.65 GAA. The 22-year-old goaltender is vaguely competing for a job with the Blackhawks with prospect Adam Gajan.
